Working out an hourly invoice
Multiply the hours by the rate: 12.5 hours at $85 is $1,062.50. Enter part hours as decimals: 1.5 is an hour and a half, 0.25 is fifteen minutes.
Most states don’t tax professional services such as consulting, design or development, but some tax labor like repairs, installation or cleaning. Add a tax rate only if your service is taxable where you work.
Make hourly invoices easy to approve
- Show hours × rate on each line, not only the total.
- Name the dates or the period the hours cover.
- Split work by task or project when the client pays from different budgets.
