Frequently asked questions
Does Net 30 count weekends?
Yes: Net 30 is 30 calendar days from the invoice date. If the due date falls on a weekend, many clients pay on the next business day.
Is there a law on payment terms?
Not in general — you agree terms with your client. Some provinces have prompt-payment rules for construction, such as Ontario’s 28 days.
Can I charge interest after the due date?
Yes, if your terms say so. State the yearly rate as well as any monthly one, as the Interest Act requires.
